| Creating Retouching Presets for Lightroom with Craig's Actions - Pt. 2 |
The Step by Steps to create Export Retouching Presets & Movie Tutorial
The key to this overall operation is twofold - Craig's Production Assistant Actions already have their Save Steps built into their workflow operation, and Adobe Lightroom has an oft-missed option at the bottom of their Export Palette for optional Post-processing image handling after Lightroom's Export function.
* PC & CS, CS2, PS7 Users - The steps may appear differently for you, but the procedures demonstrated are similar.

1) After setting up and running Craig's Production Assistant Actions in Photoshop, create a Droplet of the specific Action workflow.
The PA Actions have five levels of softness and five levels of exposure adjustment, so the user simply selects the combination of Softness and Exposure variation desired.

Set things up for your Droplet as shown (below), and click OK. A good suggestion is to have your Droplets in a place easily accessible, your names short & descriptive, and your errors messages setup to a continuously overwritten file (using its default setting).

2) In Lightroom Preferences, locate your Presets folder (as shown).

Lightroom makes use of a number of Presets, but the folder we are going to use is called the Export Actions, and will store all of the Droplets we create, enabling them to be selected as part of the Export Image Production. |
| |
| 3) Drag n Drop, or Copy your new Droplet to the Export Actions Folder. |

4) Now back in Lightroom, go to File > Export... and a palette of options is presented to you.
You'll need to select where to put your Lighroom Exported Image, some image settings to make use of, and what to do after Export.
I have a set of "Dump Files" on my Storage Drive where all my automated processes send processed images to. That allows me to program operations once, and then simply transfer the image batches back to my client folder later.
The other settings offer choice for format and quality, I typically have mine set this way, but an 8bit setting will save on space / time and is usually more than adequate.. |

| |
| |
| |
5) In the Post-processing section, click on the Option Tab, and you will now see a new set of Options available to you, including the Droplet(s) that you copied over to Lightroom Presets folder in step 3.
6) Select the Droplet you wish of the Craig's Actions PA workflows.
| |
7) Before hitting the Export button, on the lower left, click on the "Add" button to generate a New Preset Option, Name it the same as your Droplet, press Create, and it is now stored as a new User Preset!
